The Yoga Awareness Panchakarma retreat is a consecutive series of
2.5 hour Ayurveda oil treatments combined with 1.5 hour Yoga classes.

Yoga Awareness ~ The International School of Yoga & Ayurveda

Ayurveda PANCHAKARMA treatments are the application of medicated oils applied to specific areas of the body and the depending on the specific needs of a person we apply one of the five purification methods ~ nyasam, vamana, vasti, virecana, rakta mokshanam. This is a full body oil bath with a steam bath, then therapy and shower at the completion.

Yoga works at a therapeutic level of releasing tension, aligning your spine moving prana (energy) throughout your entire body. The Yoga practice is an excellent combination with your Ayurvedic treatments, like brother and sister these healing modalities are inseparable. As therapists we witnes ten times the benefits for our students when applying both of these ancient Vedic healing modalities together. It's like working only with one hand when we have two, same as Yoga and Ayurveda as our proven methods for health and healing.

Pleasure vs. Pain

Pleasure has no value. It only creates more desire for more pleasure, and creates more samskaras. Therefore, the Masters are not for pleasures. So they shun pleasure, accept pain, welcome pain, pray for pain, because if for one moment that pain is removed, they may fall into the trap of a good life, a pleasurable life. So, to keep them on their toes, spiritual toes, as it were, they say, 'God, give me everlasting pain that I may not forget you.' Because in pain we call for God; in pleasure we call for ourselves - the lower self.
