PatanjaliThe Yoga Awareness 1000 HOUR YOGA THERAPIST trainings are for students whose dharma (life purpose) is to teach Yoga and Ayurveda. This Training is comprehensive and rich, offering a unique way of integrating the profound and precious Eastern teachings, then applying them in the context of our modern Western lifestyles.

The 500 hour Yoga Teacher training is a total of 15 months, comprising of 8 weeks (MAUI) and 12 months (HOME).

Modules 1 - 4: (MAUI) The training is at the Yoga Awareness studio in Makawao, Maui. During the first 2 weeks the training focuses on Samadhi Level 4, which is to understand the five aspect of our mind, the logical framework for the mind to function, then beyond this framework and to develop daily rituals (practice) to strengthen the capacity of our mind. We study and practice Samadhi, from the first chapter of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. The purpose of Yoga is to develop our mental capacity, as TKV.Desikachar said "Yoga is a healthy body and stable mind". It is then followed by a 1 week Yoga Therapist Internship to develop your professional skills as a Yoga Therapist. (HOME) On completion of the 3 week Maui training you will then be required to complete a study at home for 4 months and submit reports each week on (1) your daily personal practice and (2) your therapist internship practice.

Modules 5 - 8: (MAUI) The training is at the Yoga Awareness studio in Makawao, Maui. During the first 2 weeks the training focuses on Samadhi Level 5. It is then followed by a 1 week Yoga Teacher Internship to develop your professional skills as a Yoga Teacher. (HOME) On completion of the 3 week Maui training you will then be required to complete a study at home for 4 months and submit reports each week on (1) your daily personal practice and (2) your therapist internship practice.

Modules 9 - 12: (MAUI) The training is at the Yoga Awareness studio in Makawao, Maui. During the first 2 weeks the training focuses on Samadhi Level 6.

This commitment is to increase your 'self' awareness and personal growth. It grooms Yoga Teachers to share Raja Yoga and the Teachings of Patanjali through the Krishnamacharya lineage. Yoga Awareness offer the highest international standards of professional Yoga and Ayurveda trainings. On successful completion you will be certified by Yoga Awareness as a ISYA 1000 hour Yoga Therapist. This certification is a minimum requirement for ongoing advanced studies with Yoga Awareness. You will also be eligible for the International Association of Yoga Therapy (IAYT) and the National Ayurveda Medical Association (NAMA). The Yoga Awareness ISYA certification may be used to teach at any Yoga studio, worldwide.

Hatha Yoga

The rishis of the ancient times used to sit in meditation continuously for days, weeks and, if legends be true, months and years too, without a break. They had, therefore, neither the opportunity nor, perhaps, the inclination for physical exercise. However, the body had to have a minimum tension imposed on it to keep it fit at least to a minimal extent. Therefore, the rishis devised a system of yoga postures which they could adopt one after the other while sitting in meditation or contemplation, and thus kill two birds, as it were, with one stone.

Taken from the book "The Principles of Sahaj Marg, Set 1, Vol. 1", Chapter "The Inner Needs of Man", pg. 32, by Revered Chariji
