A rejuvenating practice teaching asana technique (siksana) with ‘breath and movement coordination’. This is for both beginner and advanced students to develop an inner relationship with correct posture and spinal alignment.
A dynamic practice (vinyasa krama) focusing on ‘sthiram (attention) and sukham’ (ease), with an introduction to pranayama and meditation. Guided instruction only, students are required to complete five Yoga 1 classes.
A meditative practice using asana, pranayama, chanting of the Yoga Sutra-s and seated meditation to achieve stillness and peacefulness. Available to Yoga 1&2 students.

studio location
what level ?
The group class is suitable for all levels. We apply the appropriate application of Yoga for each student, within the context of a group class.
• Asana is for body flexibility and strength • Pranayama is for breath and lifeforce awareness • Meditation is to reduce distraction and increase clarity
A regular practice of asana, pranayama and meditation gives you a better understanding of your weakness and strengths. Practicing to your comfortable maximum ability is the special effort for balanced transformation.
what style of Yoga ?
Raja Yoga is the ‘Teachings of Patanjali’. Patanjali has given us Kriya Yoga (attitude) and Ashtanga Yoga (method) to attain a state of focus and peacefulness.
Viniyoga was a name given by Desikachar to Western students in the late 1980’s. It describes the appropriate use of Raja Yoga to progressively develop a student.
Yoga Awareness is of the Krishnamacharya lineage (Desikachar), American Viniyoga (Gary Kraftsow), and Yoga Raksanam (DV Sridhar, Radha Sridhar, Viji Vasu).
what do I need ?
Wear comfortable clothing for Asana practices and a sweater to keep warm after class. Bring your sticky mat or purchase one from the studio. We provide floor rugs and blankets. Always have plenty of bottled water. Due to allergies and sensitivities that other students may have please do not use perfumes.
pre-registration
We don't like to overcrowd classes so pre-registration ensures that you have a space reserved. Otherwise it's on a 'first come' basis. If you can't make it please cancel no later than 1 hour prior to class.
Classes start promptly on time. In the consideration of the teacher and other students please arrive 5 - 15 minutes before class. Maui has traffic problems too and sometimes it's easy to get lost. Allow yourself plenty of time, arrive early and enjoy the historic cowboy town of Makawao.
