Training Overview

Yoga Awareness YOGA TEACHER TRAINING YAT 600 is a certified Yoga and Ayurveda training for 6 months, comprising of 3 weeks group study in HONOLULU Oahu, Hawaii and 5 months personal study at HOME with ONLINE Skype privates.

HONOLULU
The first 3 weeks of study is at the Yoga Awareness studio in Honolulu, Oahu. This training is a combination of:

1) SELF THERAPY TRAINING - YAT 400 is the first 2 weeks of training and focuses on self development using ASHTANGA YOGA, which is to develop 'the eight parts of Yoga' in your yoga practice. Ashtanga Yoga comprises of these eight parts and can be listed separately however are one, ie. I can describe my hand and foot but they are both part of my body. Ashtanga Yoga develops your understanding and integration of (1) Yama ~ social relationship, (2) Niyama ~ self relationship, (3) Asana ~ body relationship, (4) Pranayama ~ lifeforce relationship, (5) Pratyahara ~ senses relationship, (6) Dharana ~ `mind relationship, (7) Dhyana ~ meditation relationship, (8) Samadhi ~ oneness relationship. The training format includes daily Asana group classes followed by Asana theory and demonstration, Patanjali Yoga Sutra study (ASHTANGA YOGA), Pranayama breath introduction, Asana sequence drawing, Chanting practice, Meditation theory and practice, and Ayurveda theory.

2) YOGA TEACHER PRACTICUM - YAT 600 then follows with a 1 week training to develop your professional skills as a Yoga Ayurveda Teacher. This training format includes Asana class followed by Anatomy and Physiology, Chanting practice, Yoga Teaching theory, Verbal Yoga teaching instruction, and Student Yoga teaching practice.

HOME
On completion of the 3 week Honolulu training you will then be required to do a home training for 5 months. This involves submitting reports each week on your daily Yoga Ayurveda personal practice and your teaching internship assignments of verbal asana instructions and teaching sequences.

PRIVATES
Six 90 minute PRIVATE sessions and two 120 minute CRITIQUE sessions with a Yoga Awareness trainer to review your Yoga Ayurveda personal practices are included in your home training. The Private sessions can be done at home online with Skype or at a Yoga Awareness studio.


Students who have already completed the Yoga Teacher YAT 600 Training can take 1 day Yoga Teacher Internship Clinics to reinforce their training and develop confidence with teaching.

▼ YAT 600 - Pre requisite

STUDENT PARTICIPATION: Those wishing to participate must have the willingness to learn, practice and to share the knowledge gained. The 'beginner's mind' is the best mind for this Training, no matter if you're an advanced practitioner or an absolute beginner. Physical limitations are no constraint for this training.
