Initiated into Yogananda's Kriya Yoga?
Q: Do I need to be initiated into Yogananda's Kriya Yoga in order to take the Yoga Awareness training?
A: No initiation is required. The Kriya Yoga that we practice at Yoga Awareness comes directly from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.
In the West people confuse Kiya Yoga and the great work of Yogananda. He was a famous Indian teacher who's teachings focused on Kriya Yoga. He would initiate his students in order to strengthen their commitment to him. Yoga Awareness offers the classical form of Raja Yoga.
The teachings of Patanjali describe the methods to reach enlightenment using the tools of Kriya Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga. The term Kriya Yoga means 'Yoga of Action' which is developing the right attitude for doing Yoga. Your only initiation to join our Yoga Awareness training is to register, complete the pre-requisites, and be ready and willing to receive these profound teachings.
