Ayurveda says that winter is influenced by kapha and summer by pitta, which are both stable seasons. However spring is the transitional season of vata when the wind changes our winter coldness into summer heat.
Spring also means to 'arise from'. Like an energy is springing up and nature is awakening, the plants are budding and the power of the winds are moving around. Our mind gets restless and our body gets dryer both inside and out. Some people may get allergy symptoms, migraines or an irritated mind. We don't have to be so overwhelmed with the windy power, we just need the extra stability during this changeable season.
What shall we do in this restless wind season? Let's ask fire and water to help soothe the wind. Using some vata reducing herbs and spices in our foods to balance the agni (stomach fire) will build up our immune system. Taking baths and drinking warm filtered water throughout the day will help moisturize and cleanse the body. The 'oiling' is another good self-therapy. It's called 'abhyanga' in Ayurveda, which is to apply herbal oil on your head and body. Oil nourishes not only the skin but also feeds the organs.
Balancing the "Wind, Fire and Water" around you and within you will ease the discomfort of your body and mind. We hope this spring is full of happiness for you Visitor.
Love, namaste, konnichiwa and aloha from us both,
Tedd and Masumi 🌼🌸
