My problems were an inevitable part of being in my fifties
I’ve attended many different yoga practices but I had not found one that I wanted to commit to until my friend brought me to Yoga Awareness.I have made this a regular part of my life because of the physical and mental benefits. The asanas strengthened my lower back, reduced my sciatica, and improved the symptoms of the pinched nerve in my neck that travels down my shoulder. The pranayama at the end of each practice helps me to accept and face the stresses and challenges of daily life. I was resigned to living with the problems of menopause, such as the hot flashes, the sleeplessness, the fuzzy thinking. But the others in class told me how the ayurvedic treatments and the Indian medicines helped them to improve chronic health conditions. I had already sought traditional medical treatment and was worried about the potential side effects of the hormone treatment recommended. By this time I had developed enough trust in Ted and the teachings that I was willing to invest the time and money into a series of treatments. The hot flashes have diminished considerably, my sleep is deep and continuous, and I feel confident that I can learn and accomplish new and complicated tasks. My immune system also seems to have improved for I rarely catch colds and my cat allergies have stopped bothering me. I had assumed that all of my problems were an inevitable part of being in my fifties and living with them was making me think a lot about retirement. It turns out that it wasn’t true and there are realistic and enjoyable ways of improving the quality of life. Thanks Ted!
