Not just flexibility
I began studying yoga with Ted at Yoga Awareness about 3 or 4 years ago. As a middle aged woman, who had spent many years practicing rough sports, I had some really upsetting new aches and pains, and it had become obvious that my flexibility was not quite what it used to be. And then a series of big family quakes occurred, and it sometimes seemed that breathing was even getting to be tough. I knew I had to do something to get myself calmed down. My health was suffering, my relationships were suffering. It was a tough time. So I told myself I would start yoga, and at least work on the flexibility issue. I had no idea at the time that it would take care of practically all of my issues! First I discovered the breathing. I relearned how to breathe, and especially how to breathe and move together in a yoga practice. The quietness my mind experienced when the practice was over was really a revelation, and I wanted more of it. My flexibility has improved dramatically and continues to improve, as do my physical strength and my focus, and my posture! I know which postures relieve which aches and pains, and many of them have disappeared completely! Most wonderfully, a relationship I have with someone very dear to me has become possible again as I have learned to just stay quiet and calm. Ted is a wonderful teacher. He really personalizes the classes for whoever is there, and has a real love and knowledge of yoga. It is a friendly atmosphere, very welcoming to everyone. It has really become something I look forward to and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a calm and supportive spot in their lives.
